Strengthening Partnerships for Green Transition in Montenegro
As part of the Greening Human Capital in Public Institutions in the Western Balkans (GHC) project, the CEF team reconnected with key representatives from the Montenegrin Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Montenegro, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, Ministry of Energy and Mining, and Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Northern Region Development.
The meetings, held in Podgorica from November 21–22, 2024, highlighted the importance of long-standing partnerships and created new opportunities to strengthen cooperation for sustainable development and a green transition in Montenegro and the broader region.
CEF Deputy Director Ivana Nedižavec Korada and Program team members Vehid Fetić and Ivana Angelova outlined the objectives, benefits, target audiences, and planned activities for the GHC project in 2025. The discussions reaffirmed the CEF's reputation as a trusted partner in Montenegro and emphasized the critical need to deepen collaboration to advance the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans.
Montenegrin representatives expressed strong interest in engaging with the project, both as participants and experts, highlighting the significant untapped potential for regional knowledge exchange and the adoption of best practices. This shared commitment and mutual trust are essential for addressing the pressing challenges of climate change and promoting sustainable development across the region.
The GHC project is funded by the Slovene Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy through its Climate Change Fund, reflecting shared commitments to fostering a greener future.
