Serbian Public Sector Accountants Awarded With International Certificates
The Center of Excellence in Finance completed the project Public Accountants Certification Training (PACT) in Serbia. Graduation ceremony for students enrolled to the PACT was held on June 6, 2018 in Belgrade, and group of 14 students received internationally recognized certificate of the Chartered Institute of Public Finances and Accountancy (CIPFA).
The director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Serbia, Ms. Azza El-Abd, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Serbia, H.E. Vladimir Gasparič and Ms. Vera Vukčević-Gligorić, representative of the Treasury administration of the Serbian Ministry of Finance delivered certificates to students who were trained in international public sector accounting standards and practices.
Ms. El-Abd emphasized the importance of the PACT program not only for the EU accession process for Serbia, but also for the wellbeing of all their citizens. Mr. Gasparič expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Slovenia has had an opportunity to contribute to the capacity building of the Serbian administration and public financial reforms.
With this training program the CEF aimed to establish and maintain international standards in public sector accounting, raise the status of the profession in line with EU countries, and enhance the ability of the Serbian Ministry of Finance to implement a modernized management accounting approach. The students expressed extreme satisfaction with the quality of the training materials, and the knowledge and support of the tutors as well as the great value of the training, which was focused on the practical application of accounting standards to the special circumstances in the public sector.
Project was funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia through Slovenia’s Development Cooperation, along with the non-financial contribution of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia.
