Reconnecting with Partners in Bosnia and Herzegovina
This week, we visited Bosnia and Herzegovina for a series of high-level meetings. The visit offered a valuable opportunity to reconnect with long-standing partners, exchange insights, and reaffirm our shared commitment to advancing green transition and strengthening human capital development.
The CEF team, led by Director Jana Repanšek, held a series of productive high-level meetings during their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. They engaged with several key institutions, including the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Public Administration Reform Coordination Office, Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Directorate for Economic Planning, Regional Cooperation Council, Directorate for European Integration, Ministry of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Federal Ministry of Finance, and Tax Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The discussions focused on several key areas of mutual interest. One of the main topics was the Greening Human Capital (GHC) project, implemented by the CEF with the support of Slovenia’s Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy. Talks revolved around engaging stakeholders, refining the project methodology, and planning upcoming activities for 2025.
The team also highlighted the recruitment process for the next generation of participants in the EU-funded multi-beneficiary project “EU Scheme for Young Professionals in the Western Balkans” (WeLead), implemented by the CEF. This initiative is designed to strengthen the leadership capacities of the next-generation leaders and policymakers in the Western Balkans who will be shaping the EU integration and public administration reform processes.
Another key focus of the discussions was the growing demand for institutional capacity development and strategic human resource management. Institutions highlighted the importance of developing technical skills, improving talent retention, and enhancing opportunities for knowledge sharing across the public sector.
We are grateful to all our counterparts in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the warm welcome, engaging discussions, and shared commitment to sustainable development. Institutions expressed strong appreciation for the CEF’s continued support and acknowledged its role as a trusted, long-term partner in their capacity development efforts.
