Prepare for an Exciting New Learning Season at the CEF
As summer winds down and September approaches, it is time to prepare for the busy season ahead. At the CEF, we are kicking off a new learning season, offering plenty of fresh online and in-class learning opportunities across the following thematic areas: public financial management, central banking, leadership for managing reforms, and learning and knowledge ecosystems.
At our recent Banking Regulation and Supervision (BRS) expert community meeting in June, we tackled key topics such as cybersecurity resilience (DORA), crypto assets (MICA), the digital euro, fintech, open banking (PSD2, FiDA), and the future of banking (digital transformation, cloud computing, AI). The dynamic discussions and valuable insights highlighted the importance of these issues and set the tone for our upcoming events. We invite you to participate in our workshops on Anti-Money Laundering and Cybersecurity Risk Supervision, or join the in-depth conversations at the Regional Conference on Banking Regulation and Supervision .
As part of the EU-funded project "Structural Reforms Better Integrated Within Fiscal Frameworks" (FISR2), we will offer tailored support to beneficiaries in the Western Balkans and Türkiye to help implement their Reform Agenda and prepare the Economic Reform Programme document. This support will involve estimating the costs of both the quantitative and qualitative reform steps outlined in the Reform Agenda, using the Methodology for Costing and Budgeting Reforms. In addition, we will develop a coordination plan for implementing the Reform Agenda, focusing on actively involving line ministries. We also aim to enhance the skills needed to assess the economic and employment impact of key structural reforms.
Delivered as part of the EU-funded "EU Scheme for Young Professionals in the Western Balkans" (WeLead) project, young public officials will have the opportunity to enhance their skills in policy analysis, communication, and writing policy notes through a series of webinars. Additionally, they will be invited to participate in a workshop designed to encourage them to emerge as leaders in ideas, people, and reforms, with a focus on participative governance and broad-scale listening.
Public sector accountants and internal auditors are invited to join us at the upcoming conference, where we will highlight the importance of non-financial reporting. The conference will focus on strategies for rethinking financial reporting and procedures in the context of climate change and sustainability. Participants will also explore how financial reporting and internal control procedures can evolve from current technocratic practices to encompass broader non-financial responsibilities and integrated reporting.
Tax officials will have the opportunity to learn about the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) package, which includes measures designed to combat tax avoidance by multinational corporations. We will also provide a platform for sharing experiences related to recent tax reforms that have been implemented.
