National Bank of Moldova Strengthens Its Learning Organization Culture
Since 2023, we have been working with the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) on its transformation into a learning organization through the "NBM LearnOrgLab" project. Our focus has been on supporting NBM staff in gradually turning ideas and plans into concrete actions, with learning embedded across all aspects of their decision-making and daily work.
As part of these efforts, we have conducted a series of Training of Trainers sessions, aimed at establishing a strong internal knowledge management and training function. These sessions were designed to provide NBM staff with essential skills, methodologies, and techniques to deliver impactful and memorable trainings—primarily for internal knowledge exchange, but also for external audiences.
A key highlight of this initiative is its phased approach to the development of trainer competencies. In the first phase, participants gain the foundational knowledge and skills needed to be effective trainers and facilitators. In the next phase, they begin facilitating real sessions. Finally, they take full ownership of the learning process by designing and delivering their own training programs. This approach ensures the practical application of skills and the sustainability of expertise, reinforcing a culture of collaborative learning at NBM.
As Ms. Natalia Zabolotnii emphasized, integrating learning and knowledge management into daily operations is essential for organizational growth. In her view, the aim is to organize knowledge sharing and learning as a usual part of day-to-day activity. Aligned with this vision, these activities aimed to develop NBM staff with the essential skills and expertise needed to drive its transformation into a learning organization.
Through these efforts, the NBM seeks to improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and strengthen its role as a regional knowledge hub. By investing in its employees, the NBM is positioning itself for long-term success and aiming to attract highly qualified, competent, self-driven, and talented professionals.
We will continue to support the NBM and are delighted that the initiative has been so well received and successful. Participants have committed to meeting monthly and have already begun delivering sessions to their peers.
The LearnOrgLab project is financially supported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia through Slovenia Aid, the Ministry of Finance of Slovenia, and the Constituency Program of the Ministry of Finance, The Netherlands.
