Introducing Climate Change and Green Transition into Macroeconomic Analysis
About this learning event
This workshop offers a comprehensive learning on how to integrate climate change into macroeconomic and financial analysis within policy institutions. It will cover both theoretical and practical aspects, ie. from understanding the macroeconomic implications of climate risks to hands-on case studies and tools for assessing climate risks in relation to financial stability. Participants will explore key topics such as EU sustainable finance agenda for central bankers, learning about tools for assessing and modelling climate effects and building scenarios for assessing climate-realated risks. With experts from central banks and academic institutions we will discuss about greenflation with potential monetary policy responses and whether green loans are in fact less risky. We will also tackle economic considerations of technology choices for the energy transition.
A core component of the event is the focus on practical application—participants will engage in interactive case study, including constructing climate-related dashboards and building scenarios to assess risks. Peer learning and group work will be essential for fostering collaboration and exchange of insights among central banks. The workshop is designed to equip participants with actionable knowledge and tools to address the evolving challenges posed by climate change in macroeconomic and financial policy settings.
Who should attend
We invite analysts and researchers from central banks, dealing with macroeconomic analysis, financial stability issues, and micro and macroprudential supervision. Other institutions performing or using macroeconomic analysis for their own policymaking are welcome to join.
