IMF Technical Advisor for Government Finance Statistics Joined the CEF
Deon Florian Tanzer joined us at the CEF in the position of International Monetary Fund`s technical advisor for Government Finance Statistics in South East Europe. We work closely with the International Monetary Fund, whose regional technical assistance advisors for South East Europe use the CEF as their hub for missions. In addition to IMF GFS technical advisor, IMF Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) advisors in public financial management and revenue administration and their support staff are based at the CEF.
Deon Florian Tanzer has been based at the CEF since September 2016. In the position of technical advisor for government finance statistics he advises compilers in various national institutions on how to develop GFS data and data reporting, both for the IMF and the EU in compliance with the fiscal reporting requirements, the so-called Maastricht deficit and debt and the Excessive Deficit Procedure. Deon has gained extensive experience in GFS at the IMF and Statistics Netherlands. His work funded by the Swiss Government.
FAD advisors are funded by the EU-financed program to support economic governance and public finance management in six pre-accession countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. Offices and administrative support at the CEF is an in-kind contribution from the Slovenian Government through the CEF.
IMF`s and CEF`s efforts in the region are complementary and mutually reinforcing. IMF technical assistance missions help pinpoint needs for learning and knowledge sharing among practitioners. The CEF then designs workshops that address these needs, bringing together peer institutions and experts from the region and beyond. Many of the courses are delivered by the IMF advisors, who contribute content that is strongly informed by their missions.
