About this event

In this online knowledge-sharing session Mr. Şerban Matei, Director of the International Relations Department at the National Bank of Romania (NBR), will talk about the role of the international relations department in support of institutional partnerships. He will devote special focus to inter-and intra-institutional information sharing and the department's important role in analyzing and synthesizing this information to support decision-making.  

The International Relations Department of the NBR focuses on policy coordination with the European banking system institutions (e.g. European Central Bank, European Systemic Risk Board) and is responsible for relations management with the international financial institutions (IMF, IBRD, EBRD, BIS, BSTDB, EIB, OECD, NGFS). It supports bilateral cooperation in what regards the exchange of information, co-operation agreements (particularly in the field of bank supervision) with a number of central banks in Europe and elsewhere globally. It has been supporting NBR's involvement in granting technical assistance at a bilateral level, in multilateral projects, and through other channels.

Who should attend

This event has been designed for heads and staff of international relations departments and those working on inter-institutional relationship management at central banks, ministries of finance, line ministries, and tax administrations. The event is by invitation only.

This knowledge-sharing session will be delivered on the Webex platform and will last 90 minutes. You will need basic technology: internet connection and computer or smartphone.

Şerban Matei, Director, International Relations Department, National Bank of Romania

Mr. Matei has been Director of the International Relations Department at the NBR since September 2016. Between 2012 and 2016 he was Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the IMF. Before that, he held different roles at the NBR, with the most recent one being the Director of the Market Operations Department. He is an economic studies graduate from 1992.
