CEF-CIPFA Conference: Speak Up for Public Financial Management
We are honored to continue our longstanding and strong cooperation with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and host one of the largest international public finance conferences in South East Europe also this year. From June 28 – 29, 2022 public sector accountants and auditors will explore recommendations to enhance quality and sustainability of public services. The conference will take place in Tirana, Albania.
Building on the lessons learned from last year’s joint CEF-CIPFA conference, the primary focus of this year's sessions will also be two key topic areas: public sector asset management and anti-corruption. As one of the speakers for the occasion, Ms. Gorana Roje from the Croatian Ministry of Physical Planning, Construction and State Assets, highlighted: “In practice data on public sector assets are often scattered, property rights are unclear while strategic goals related to public asset management remain undefined.” It is, therefore, critical that governments look into how they can manage public sector assets more efficiently and as a result provide better quality public services to their citizens at the most favorable terms.
Additionally, conference participants will explore the practical effects of corruption on government services and discuss different anti-corruption prevention programs. As a bridge between both topics, the conference program also considers the contribution of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) to both the sustainability and financial accountability of public services.
The Making Government Services Work Better for Citizens conference is expected to bring together more than 100 public sector accountants and auditors from South East Europe and around the world. It will provide a platform for exchanging expert knowledge, experience and best practices.
