CEF and Albanian Ministry of Finance and Economy Launch Joint Project for Internal Auditors
Last week, CEF Director Jana Repanšek and Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy Endrit Yzeiraj welcomed a new generation of Albanian public sector internal auditors at the opening ceremony of the Training of Internal Auditors in the Public Sector of Albania (TIAPS Albania) project. The project will contribute to strengthening the capacities of Albanian public sector internal auditors in support of Albanian Public Internal Financial Control (PIFC) reforms through institutional and individual empowerment.
The Albanian Ministry of Finance and Economy recognizes the program of the TIPAS Albania project as an excellent opportunity to boost the capacities of Albanian internal auditors in the public sector. In their view, the program complements the ongoing national certification program for internal auditors at the basic level which has been successfully delivered for several years by the Ministry’s central harmonization unit.
The TIAPS introduces a professional qualification training program for public sector internal auditors in line with the best international audit standards and practices. Developed in cooperation with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the CEF, this training will contribute to the development of the internal audit profession in Albania. It will address the specific needs of public internal auditors, focused on ensuring an adequate and effective PIFC system. In addition, the CEF will support the central harmonization unit to take over the implementation of the training program independently in the future.
The ceremony was also an excellent opportunity to discuss auditing reforms in Albania in line with the EU requirements, international standards, and best practices from around the world. It took place on March 30, 2023, in Tirana, Albania.
