WeLearn: Green Transformation and its Interrelation with the PFM and PAR
About this learning event
This blended learning course will focus on green Public Financial Management (PFM), which aims to adapt existing PFM practices to support climate-sensitive policies. With the cross-cutting nature of climate change and wider environmental concerns, green PFM can be a key enabler of an integrated government strategy to combat climate change. The course will emphasise key principles for effectively implementing green PFM and Public Administration Reform (PAR) strategies.
Throughout the course, participants will learn not only to explore the general concept of green transformation but also to examine the latest developments at its intersection with public institutions. Following the theoretical background, participants will have a chance to delve deeper into the challenges of the Western Balkan countries related to implementing the Green Agenda for the Western Balkans (GAWB). Special focus will be dedicated to the significant achievements of these countries so far, followed by the critical examination of the challenges that hinder further developments in their endeavors to bring the green transition forward.
After gaining a deeper understanding of the interconnections between green transformation, PFM, and PAR, participants will apply their knowledge through interactive sessions and discussions. They will collaborate to identify and propose possible solutions to the current challenges related to the green transformation in the public sector.
By the end of the blended learning course, participants will gain a better understanding of their role in the wider setting of joint efforts to combat climate change and be equipped with knowledge necessary for the achievement of the collective commitment to reach climate-neutrality by 2050 and successfully transition towards more resilient and sustainable societies.
