About this learning event

This annual workshop will support policymakers in preparing for the introduction of green taxes in their countries and understanding the potential impacts of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

Following topics will be discussed:

  • Green taxation
  • CBAM
  • Use of natural resources
  • Waste disposal and related issues.

Participants will discuss how green taxes can encourage people and businesses to reduce their environmental impact by making environmentally harmful activities more expensive. With the EU’s adoption of the CBAM to address carbon leakage preventing companies from relocating their operations to countries with lower carbon taxes, participants will discuss its implications for South East European countries with significant exports to the EU.
