About this learning event

This upcoming webinar will be dedicated to enhancing effective policy paper writing skills, a critical aspect of the WeWrite program. By this stage, participants are expected to have completed both the problem description and the analysis of the policy problem they are addressing. During the session, mentees will have the unique opportunity to engage with Paul McClure, an esteemed expert in the field of editorial and communications strategy.

Paul McClure brings a wealth of experience to this session, having served as the editorial lead at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., for over two decades. Since 2008, he has partnered with the CEF to assist government experts in improving the effectiveness of their written communications in English. He has worked closely with participants from all CEF member countries, as well as several neighboring EU member states, helping them refine their writing and communication skills. Paul’s vast expertise in both public sector communication and editorial work makes him an invaluable resource for this session. His continued engagement with the CEF underscores his commitment to empowering professionals through learning initiatives, including his recent contributions to the WeWrite Cohort 1.

In preparation for the webinar, WeWrite participants will be required to submit their drafts one week in advance. This will allow Paul McClure to thoroughly review each submission and prepare detailed, individualized feedback. During the webinar, Paul will provide each mentee with a comprehensive critique of their work, focusing on areas of improvement, clarity, and overall effectiveness in addressing policy issues. This personalized feedback is designed to help participants elevate their writing and ensure their policy papers meet high standards of quality and precision.
