This module serves as an introduction to the fundamental role of assurance in modern governance and accountability frameworks. It provides an in-depth understanding of the roles and techniques utilized by auditors, who play a pivotal role in ensuring the transparency, accountability, and sustainability of modern organizations. 

The module provides insights into:

•  Internal auditing’s contribution to good governance
•  Mandate, independence, and objectivity
• Assurance and advisory engagements

By the end of this module, students will have gained a thorough understanding of the role of internal audit in promoting organizational governance through the provision of assurance and advisory services. They will have a solid grounding in the principles, standards, and best practices that underpin internal audit, as well as the competencies required to be an effective internal auditor.
