VAT revenues importantly contribute to national budgets. This is why tax administrations employ different strategies to lower the size of the VAT gap. Auditing VAT is an important part of tax administrations’ strategies to mitigate non-compliance.
About this learning event
This regional webinar aims at discussing auditing VAT in the context of assuring compliance. It will also provide a platform for exchange of experiences.
What will you learn
During this webinar, you will learn what is needed to develop a compliance plan based on a proper risk analysis, the role of auditing VAT, and learn about practical examples. Moreover, identified compliance projects concerning VAT and explanation of the process will be shared and discussed. In the second part, you will share your own experiences.

This webinar will be delivered under the guidance of:
- Marjan Maček, Financial Administration of Slovenia
Marjan started working as tax auditor within the Tax Administration in 1996. In 2002, he became senior tax auditor in the Division for Tax Supervision and International Information Exchange and Register. He was responsible for VAT inspections at the central level (planning, coordination, implementation of the plan, preparation of methodologies, etc.). Since 2014, after the merger of the Tax and Customs Administrations into Financial Administration, he has been acting as Head of the Financial Supervision Division, which covers the entire inspection within the Financial Administration and the Supervision of Mobile Units of the former Customs Administration.
- Andre Kamps, Tax and Custom Administration, the Netherlands
Andre is a chartered accountant. He has been working for the Dutch Tax Administration for 32 years, since 2010 as advisor/coordinator on issues of attacking VAT Fraud. His work is based on the principles of Compliance Risk Management.
