At the UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015 in September this year, the world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Agenda is universal and previews that SDGs should be implemented by all countries.
Implementation of the SDGs depends on effective financing for development. As it was pointed at the third International Conference on Financing for Development, held in July this year and attended also by the CEF it is crucial to mobilize domestic resources in implementation of the SDGs as it became evident that official development assistance will not be sufficient source of financing. In light of these conclusions, Addis Tax Initiative's was launched aimed at strengthening international cooperation in support of capacity development of revenue administrations.
Countries also committed themselves to support governments' efforts to strengthen the management of expenditures. CEF learning initiatives in Public Financial Management and Tax Policy and Administration fully resonate with the call to more technical assistance and other capacity development initiatives aimed at improving work of revenue administrations and more effective public expenditure management, which will contribute to realization of goals of sustainable development.
