CEF to Become an International Organization

The signing ceremony of the Agreement on Establishing the Center of Excellence in Finance as an international organization will be held on September 3, 2013 in Bled, Slovenia back-to-back with the annual Bled Strategic Forum.

 
The Agreement establishes the CEF as a non-profit international organization based in Slovenia. The new legal status will enable easier access to donor funding and hiring of international and regional experts. This will further improve the quality of CEF projects and programs for recipient countries.

Signatories to the agreement will be government plenipotentiaries from respective member countries. Ministers that will sign the agreement are Mr. Petar Pandushev Chobanov, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr Branko Grčić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and EU Funds of the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Zoran Stavreski, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Radoje Žugić, Minister of Finance of Montenegro, and Mr. Karel Erjavec, Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
 
Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina will join the agreement with the exchange of letters. Albania will start with the necessary domestic procedures ones a new government has been appointed. Kosovo, Romania, Serbia and Turkey decided not to join the Agreement at this moment; however, they may decide to do so later.

Governors of central banks or their nominated representatives will also join the signing ceremony, including Mr. Dimitar Bogov, Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Milojica Dakič, Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro, Ms. Jorgovanka Tabaković, Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Mr. Boštjan Jazbec, Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, Mr. Marin Molosag, First Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, and Mr. Genci Mamani, Chief of Cabinet of Governor of the Bank of Albania.
