Meetings of CEF Coordinators and Advisory Board Concluded on a Successful Note

The 2014 annual meetings of the CEF coordinators and CEF Advisory Board were organized back to back. This enabled the coordinators, who are involved in the development of strategic learning capability of our member institutions, to share and discuss information on their institutions' capacity development needs with our donor partners, members of the CEF Advisory Board.

The group of CEF coordinators was for the first time augmented by several groups of other key liaison officers in our member countries so as to provide additional insight into capacity development needs in the main thematic priorities of our learning program and regional cooperation efforts.

One of the objectives of the separate meeting for coordinators and key liaison officers was to identify the main capacity development challenges in central banking, tax administration, accounting, auditing and budgeting, and ways how to address them in the CEF post-2015 agenda. The participants discussed these challenges in thematic groups and presented their conclusions to the members of the CEF Advisory Board, a representative body of our donor partners, at the joint meeting. The Advisory Board continued with a separate meeting to examine how cooperation and coordination among the CEF partners can be strengthened for the benefit of our members and what changes are foreseen in the governance and operations of the CEF once the international legal status comes into effect. The Advisory Board also welcomed its new chair, Mr. Mitja Štrukelj from the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, the CEF presented its role of a regional knowledge hub and how it captures, packages and shares knowledge in SEE. We also provided information on our activities and plans by different thematic areas.
